Dog found tied to park bench in Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach, Va. - A dog was found tied to a park bench last week, and now, police are searching for the dog's owner.

On Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 8:30 p.m., Virginia Beach Police received a call from a citizen concerned about a dog tied to a bench in a neighborhood park.

Animal Control Officers located the dog, an older white and tan spaniel mix breed, in the New Land Neighborhood Park, tied to a bench in the rain. The dog was in poor condition and appeared to have been abandoned in the park, police say.

Animal Control Officers picked up the dog, canvassed the neighborhood, and were not able to identify an owner.

Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance with locating an owner of the dog.

Anyone with information regarding the owner is encouraged to call Virginia Beach Crime Solvers at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP (1-888-562-5887) or by submitting a tip by texting “VBTIP” and the information to CRIMES (274637). Callers remain anonymous and could be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward if their information leads to an arrest.
