Virginia Beach, Va. – Beach police are warning citizens about a scammer who is going to residents’ front doors tricking them out of their hard-earned cash.

Since October, they say a man has been riding a bike around neighborhoods in the city telling people he is  having car trouble and needs cash to pay a tow truck driver. He tells the victims he lives in the neighborhood and will give them an address in the area where he is working.

He claims he will pay each victim  back later during the day but he never returns with the money he promised.

Police are encouraging citizens to be careful and use good judgment when approached by unknown people asking for money.
