Virginia Beach, Va. - The man accused of taking a hatchet to Salem High School has been found incompetent to stand trial.
Police say Kirk Cowart went into Salem High School last month with a hatchet and sat on the auditorium stage.
He was arrested.
Cowart's father told NewsChannel 3 his son is a former marine who suffers from bipolar disorder.
Cowart will be taken to the state mental hospital for treatment.
His next court date will be in January.
