Chesapeake, Va. - Did you know that 1 in 7 Americans will turn to food banks in 2014? That's according to the latest data from the Feeding America Executive Study.
That’s why the Rose & Womble Foundation is working hard to provide a full Thanksgiving Dinner for Hampton Roads families.
The Rose & Womble Foundation is proud to announce it will host its 22nd annual Turkey Brigade on November 20, 2014.
The Foundation will serve the community by delivering 1,000 full Thanksgiving meals to families throughout the Hampton Road region. This effort began with only 25 meals in 1992 and has increased to become the largest event the Foundation hosts annually.
The Foundation receives many thanks from the community members whom they serve during the Brigade. This includes many military families. “Rose & Womble Realty should be commended for what they do. Their Thanksgiving food basket was such a big help to my wife and children who were very surprised and thankful for getting all of the tasty food,” said Corporal Blumenstock in a thank you note to the Foundation.
The dinner includes a turkey, cans of peas, corn, and green beans, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, a bag of potatoes and a bag of apples. The Foundation also supplies an aluminum cooking tray for the turkey and a reusable shopping bag.
There is still an opportunity to get involved in this effort. Agents, employees, and community partners will gather loose change in marked red cups, make private donations, and hold other fund raising efforts until December 5th.
Checks made out to the Rose & Womble Foundation can be sent to the Rose & Womble Foundation 4190 South Plaza Trail, Virginia Beach, VA 23452. Checks need to be marked Turkey Brigade.
