A group of 2nd graders in Virginia Beach spent Thursday afternoon learning to swim at the Williams Farm Recreation Center.
The free program, called Students on the Swim, was launched with students from Title I schools at Newtown Elementary and Luxford Elementary.
Children are experiencing a 2-week American Red Cross-certified program, with a total of 10 lessons that incorporate the Standards of Learning (SOLs).
The aim of the program is to reduce the dangers of children not knowing how to swim.
