York County, Va. - He was supposed to be teaching her how to play tennis. Instead, 31-year old Gordon Hammersley and his 15 year old tennis student were having sex. That is what he admitted to a York County Judge last week.
Hammersley pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent liberties with a minor and now he could be in prison for up to 20 years because of it.
Detectives opened up their case back in May when the 15-year-old girl said Hammersley had raped her at his apartment. Those details were outlined in a criminal complaint found in his case file at York County Circuit Court.
In the criminal complaint, the 15-year-old girl also told police that four times a week, for about seven months, Hammersley had her perform oral sex on him in his car, which he would park somewhere in her Williamsburg neighborhood.
The criminal complaint also shows Hammersley admitted to police the two had sex but he says it was consensual. In the court documents, he also told police the girl performed oral sex on him seven times and knew she was just 15-years-old.
NewsChannel 3 stopped by Hammersley's Yorktown apartment for a comment, but no one answered the door.
NewsChannel 3 also spoke to Donna Maw, the Deputy Commonwealth's attorney handling his case. She did not want to comment on the guilty plea until after Hammersley's sentencing, but she did say the victim is "satisfied" with the result.
Hammersley is facing a maximum of 10 years on both of the charges. His sentencing is scheduled for February 5th.
