Sussex Co., Va. – All lanes of U.S. 460 were temporarily shut down in Sussex County near the Prince George County line for the investigation of a crash, VDOT tells NewsChannel 3.
It happened this morning, November 21, 2014. At approximately 9:19 a.m., a Virginia State Trooper was attempting to make a traffic stop when he was struck from behind.
The trooper was traveling eastbound on Route 460 at the Sussex/Prince George County line, when he activated his emergency equipment and attempted to stop a traffic violator in the westbound lanes of Route 460, according to Sergeant Anaya of Virginia State Police.
Upon entering the westbound lanes, the trooper was struck from behind by a vehicle traveling westbound on Route 460.
The trooper suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Southside Regional Hospital. The driver of the other vehicle was treated at the scene.
At this time, all lanes of Route 460 are open to traffic.
