Man wanted for armed robbery at Cash Advance in Newport News

Newport News, Va. - Police are searching for a man wanted for armed robbery at Cash Advance, police tell NewsChannel 3.

On November 20, 2014 at about 1:40 p.m. an unknown man entered the Cash Advance located at 1055 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., handed the clerk a note indicating he had a handgun, and demanded cash.

The suspect took the note back, and the clerk complied with the suspect’s demands, giving him cash, police say. The suspect left on foot in an unknown direction of travel.

The man is described as a black male, 5’7’-5'9', medium complexion, slender to medium build, wearing a black baseball cap and a black shirt.

Surveillance video shows the man entering the store, then returning several minutes later and committing the robbery.

No one was injured. The investigation is ongoing.
