Chesapeake, Va. - Road closures may delay your weekend travel plans. Plan accordingly this weekend if you'll be in the Chesapeake area.

Dominion Boulevard between Cedar Road and Great Bridge Boulevard will be a no-go starting this evening through Monday morning so crews can prepare to transition traffic onto the new bridge span.

Work to replace the existing Steel Bridge and widen Dominion Boulevard, as well as make improvements to several interchanges, began last year.

The new bridge span, dedicated on Friday and opening on Monday, is one of nine overall in the project.

The project is expected to be complete sometime in early 2017.

When Dominion Boulevard reopens on Monday at 5:00 a.m., traffic will be diverted onto the new bridge span.
