It’s being called the year’s “most insane” ski run.

A run so steep through a narrow crevice the professional skier won an award for taking the challenge, Powder Magazine’s “Best Line of 2014.”

Cody Townsend, 31, said he had no exit plan, there was no escape.

His plunge down this Alaskan crevice lasted about 15 seconds; at its narrowest point, the walls were only six feet apart.

He reached speeds from 65 mph to 70 mph.

Townsend said the crevice has a nickname but he would blush if he had to say it.

When asked why he did it, for money or fame, he gave another reason.

He said he didn’t get a chunk of change to attempt it, he said that would be wrong.

The pro skier said he and others do it because they love it.

Although he said he did feel bad about making his mother cry.

How did he celebrate his accomplishment?

Townsend said he contemplated his life and goals while taking in an Alaskan blood moon.
