Virginia Beach, Va.- The dropping temperatures and roaring oceanfront couldn’t keep over 5,000 people from participating in the 2014 Surf-n-Santa run in Virginia Beach today.

The 5-mile run is considered to be Virginia Beach’s largest outdoor holiday costume party.

The run began at 4:30 pm at the oceanfront. Participants made their way under the holiday lights at the beach, and ended at the Virginia Beach Convention Center to take part in the Rockin’ Holiday Party.

J&A Racing hosted the event in hopes of promoting and supporting healthy lifestyles through the sport of running. Proceeds from the event will go to Nobleman charity: a non-profit that aims to perform noble deeds for local kids who are in need of help.
