Norfolk, Va. – Elizabeth River Tunnels (ERT) crews will install new overhead toll signage on Interstate I-264 (I-264), Interstate 464 (I-464), US 58 and VA Route 164 beginning Sunday, Dec. 28 ahead of toll rate increases at the Downtown and Midtown tunnels beginning Jan. 1, 2015.
Work begins Sunday morning, Dec. 28 between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. and will continue on Monday morning, Dec. 29 at 3 a.m. at the following locations:
I-264:
- I-264 East at Exit 7A/B in Portsmouth, Sunday, Dec. 28 at 6-11 a.m.
- I-264 West before Waterside Drive in Norfolk, Monday, Dec. 29 at 3 a.m.
I-464:
- I-464 North at Exit 6 to State Street, Sunday, Dec. 28 at 6-11 a.m.
US 58:
- Route 58 East near London Boulevard in Portsmouth, Sunday, Dec. 28 at 6-11 a.m.
VA Route 164:
- Route 164 East on the West Norfolk Bridge, Sunday, Dec. 28 at 6-11 a.m.
Sign locations along I-264 and I-464 will require reduced lanes and possible traffic stops for up to 30 minutes for the safety of both workers and motorists. Work is being performed during off-peak hours.
ERT Toll rates will increase on Jan. 1, 2015.
