Williamsburg, Va. – A man is now behind bars and facing numerous charges, including domestic assault and abduction in Williamsburg, police tell NewsChannel 3.

On December 25, 2014 around 12:25 a.m., Williamsburg Police responded to the 300 block of Dunning Street to a report of a domestic assault.

Crews arrived on scene and spoke to 36-year-old Brian Ray Baker of Gloucester. Baker told police he had a verbal argument with his girlfriend, who had left prior to the officer’s arrival.

Minutes later, officers responded to Lafayette Street to assist Williamsburg Medics with a female who had flagged them down seeking medical assistance. The female told responding officers that she was assaulted by Baker. When she attempted to call 911, he took her phone and broke it. When she attempted to leave, he pushed her and would not allow her to leave. The victim was treated for minor injuries by medics and released.

Baker was taken into custody and transported to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail where warrants were obtained charging him with Abduction, Domestic Assault, Destruction of Private Property and Unlawful Use or Injury to Telephones. An Emergency Protective Order was also issued, police say. Notice of the EPO was given to both parties.

Baker was held at VPRJ.

On December 26, 2014, around 10:20 p.m., Williamsburg Police responded again to the 300 block of Dunning Street. The victim told police that Baker tried to contact her in violation of the Emergency Protective order issued on December 25. An additional warrant charging the suspect with an Attempt to Violate a Protective Order was obtained and served the same day.
