Police officer, suspect shot in Richmond

Richmond, Va. - A Richmond police officer was shot during an altercation with a suspect in the city’s East End on Friday afternoon, according to reports from WTVR.

The suspect was also reportedly shot.

The officer has reportedly been transported to VCU Medical Center with what appear to be non-life threatening injuries. There is no word yet on the suspect’s injuries.

According to WTVR reporter Melissa Hipolit, the officer was dispatched to the 6400 hundred block of Fulton Street. When the officer arrived, the suspect allegedly started shooting, so the officer returned fire.
