Hampton, Va - Friends and family gathered this evening at the BP gas station on Warwick Boulevard in Newport News to honor the life of Jerrod Reid.

Earlier this week on New Year's day, police responded to a call at 9:20 p.m. of a shooting that took place at the BP gas station at the intersection of Warwick Boulevard and Tabbs Lane.  Upon arriving to the scene, police found 23-year old Jerrod Reid suffering from a gunshot wound. Reid was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Tonight, people from the community came together to express the importance of ending violence while remembering a loved one.
