Newport News, Va. – A fire in a vacant home is under investigation in Newport News.
The Newport News Fire Department responded to the fire in the vacant two-story home in the 900 block of 16th Street on Monday morning.
Crews arrived at 11:08 a.m. and found smoke and flames coming from the home. Crews began an aggressive fire attack and search and rescue operations.
The house was declared all-clear at 11:19 a.m. The fire was under control at 11:20 a.m.
There was fire damage on the first floor of the residence and smoke and heat damage throughout the structure.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
