Newport News, Va. – A 41-year-old Newport News man has been arrested for threatening his ex-girlfriend with a gun, and choking her during a fight on Sunday evening.
Newport News Police say the 40-year-old victim told them that her ex-boyfriend, Darian Murphy, threatened her with a gun while she was in the area of 35th Street and Marshall Avenue.
During the fight, Murphy shattered a window in his own car, began choking the victim and pushed her against the broken window.
The victim suffered lacerations to her hand from the broken glass and was treated at a local hospital.
Murphy was charged with abduction, malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, impeding blood circulation, possession of a firearm by a felon, brandishing a firearm, and reckless handling of a firearm.
