Plane makes emergency landing at Norfolk International Airport

Norfolk, Va. - A plane that was on its way from Tampa, Florida to Hartford, Connecticut had to make an emergency landing at the Norfolk International Airport on Monday afternoon.

The executive director with the airport told NewsChannel 3 the plane was a Jet Blue, Embraer 190, flight 1534. There were about 93 passengers on board at the time, and it was 100 miles away from the airport when the pilot reported fumes in the cockpit.

It was then diverted to Norfolk and landed safely at 4:36 p.m. It taxied to landmark aviation which is off Miller Store Road.

The airport is now checking out the plane for any unusual hotspots or heat. So far, nothing has been found. No injuries have been reported.

Jet Blue has to decide if they are going to continue toward Hartford with this plane or another aircraft.
