Suffolk, Va. – A bicyclist was hit by a car Tuesday morning on Bridge Road in Suffolk, officials tell NewsChannel 3.
Police and Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel responded to the scene on Bridge Road near the I-664 southbound entrance ramp.
Emergency communications received the call at 7:14 a.m. advising of the accident involving a Toyota Corolla and the bicyclist.
The adult male bicyclist is receiving emergency medical treatment and assessment from Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel for what are believed to be life threatening injuries, police say.
Bridge Road northbound was temporarily closed; all lanes of Bridge Road at I-664 have since reopened.
The victim has been identified as Keith Wilson, Jr., of Suffolk. Wilson has been ground transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, officials say.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
