UPDATE: Police identify two men killed in shooting on Happiness Place in Newport News

Newport News, Va. -- Two men are dead following a shooting on Happiness Place in Newport News on Wednesday night.

The victims have been identified as 38-year-old Tolanda Harris of the 100 block of Luther Road in Yorktown, and 29-year-old Jon'te Manor of the 400 block of Nelson Drive in Newport News.

Police say they got a call regarding the shooting around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday. When they got to the scene, they found two men inside the residence with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Residents of the apartment told police that the men forced their way into the home and became involved in an altercation with the 30-year-old male and 29-year-old female residents. That altercation reportedly resulted in the men being shot, according to police.

Police say people who live nearby told them they knew each other.

Police are not releasing any other information at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
