Isle of Wight, Va. – Visitors were in for quite a shock Friday when they visited the Isle of Wight Government’s website only to see it was hacked by a group claiming to be allied with the terror group ISIS.
Donald Robertson, the Public Information Officer for Isle of Wight County, says the website was filled with pro-ISIS propaganda, messages and video.
Officials are not sure yet if it is an ISIS group or another organization.
They say this happened at around 9 and 9:30 p.m. They contacted their IT employees to fix the problem. The website is hosted by a third party.
The county’s offices were closed on Friday.
The FBI has been notified.
