Job Title: Production Technician
Station: WTKR-TV
Reports to: Kevin Rafferty, News Operations Manager
PURPOSE/REASON FOR THE POSITION:
The primary responsibility of the Production Technician is to direct newscasts, run audio; operate robotics and other production duties as assigned.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS ESSENTIAL TO THE JOB:
-Direct clean newscasts
-Ability to run audio for any newscast
-Operate robotics/prompter for any assigned newscast
-Assist other directors in pre-production for any newscast
-Interact and work as a team with News, Graphics and News Production.
-Support the Production Tech Supervisor with long-term news production projects
-Experience with posting webcasts to the internet
-Experience with Final Cut Pro editing
-Oversee episodic production as requested
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Must be able to direct newscasts, run audio and/or robotics/cambotics for any and all newscasts. Must have 1 year of directing. Overdrive and Final Cut Pro is preferred. Must be flexible with regard to working hours, able to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines. Must possess the dexterity to operate typewriter, computer, editing systems and other such equipment. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in broadcasting/television.
