Newport News, Va. - Newport News Police are working to solve a 2014 homicide.
On Saturday, November 1, 2014 just before 7 p.m., residents of the 100 block of Ashton Green reported hearing a single gunshot that was believed to be nearby. A neighbor also saw an unknown male in dark clothing running from the area.
At 8:07 a.m. Sunday morning, a resident of the 100 block of Ashton Green saw what appeared to be a body in the rear of the Living Waters Church located at 15557 Warwick Boulevard.
Police units arrived and found the body of an unknown black male with an apparent gunshot wound. Fire Department Medics arrived and pronounced the shooting victim deceased at 8:17 a.m.
The victim was later identified as 16-year-old Christopher Capri Mullins of the 500 block of Candle Lane in Newport News.
Detectives currently have no leads or suspects in this homicide.
