Newport News caregiver accused of stealing $9,000 worth of silver from elderly man

Newport News, Va. – A Newport News caregiver has been charged with eight counts of grand larceny and larceny with the intent to sell after police say $9,000 worth of silver was stolen from a man in her care.

The suspect has been identified as 49-year-old Terry Inez Cooke.

On January 20, the daughter of the man in Cooke’s care reported the items missing to police. Cooke had been working with the family since August of 2014, according to James City County Police. Police also found $2,000 worth of stolen items that had been pawned, matching the description of the items that were reported missing.
