Suffolk, Va. – Fire crews responded to a house fire in Suffolk early Saturday evening.
Officials say the fire happened around 8:43 p.m. on the 300 block of Lummis Road in the rural Holland neighborhood. On arrival, firefighters found smoke rising from the attic of a single story home.
The family of two adults escaped the fire before the firefighters arrived. There were no injuries, and the family was aided by the American Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Suffolk Fire and Rescue Department say this is the first major fire since the launch of their Fire Safety Blitz Program in late January.
