Franklin man accused of stabbing 35-year-old to death

Franklin, Va. – A 24-year-old Franklin man is behind bars after police say he fatally stabbed a 35-year-old man.

Police were called out to Webb Commons Apartments about the stabbing.

When officers arrived, they found Alvin Powell inside of his vehicle. He was stabbed once in his upper torso.

Police say Powell identified the attacker before he was taken to the hospital. He died hours later.

Officers then arrested and charged Michael Clifton Trotman with murder. He is now being held at Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.
