Hampton, Va. – A 16-year-old Hampton student at New Horizons Regional Education Center was arrested Tuesday after being found in possession of a gun at the school.
Hampton Police were called to the school just before 9:00 a.m. after being notified by school administrators that a student was found in possession of a gun.
Officers discovered that a faculty member had spotted the student with the gun concealed in his clothing. The student was detained by school administration and the gun was located.
The school was placed on lockdown as a precaution.
The student was charged with one count of Possession of a Firearm on School Property, one count of Possession of a Concealed Weapon and one count of Underage Age Possession of a Firearm. He is currently in custody at Juvenile Detention.
