Ft. Eustis - Families patiently waited for their loved ones to return from Kuwait on Tuesday night and NewsChannel 3 was there to capture the special moment.
21 soldiers reunited with their families after a 9-month deployment.
The troops are from the 492nd Harbor Master Operations Detachment. They were deployed to Kuwait to help support Operation Enduring Freedom.
During that time, family members say they were able to stay in touch with their solider through text messages, Facebook and the occasional Skype call - but it wasn't enough.
"It's always hard when your child is overseas especially with everything going on," said Kevin Armor whose son just returned from a second deployment. "But I'm just glad he is home safe."
There was a ceremony to welcome back the soldiers, but officials kept it quick so that the soldiers didn't have to wait another minute to be reunited with their family members.
