Police investigate suspicious fire in Norfolk

Norfolk, Va. – Police are investigating what they believe is a suspicious fire in Norfolk.

On January 25, 2015 at approximately 7:35 p.m., Norfolk Fire-Rescue responded to 7113 Sewells Point Road for an outside fire.

When fire units arrived on scene, they discovered a fire had been set to the front entrance of a home. The fire had been extinguished, but it damaged the exterior of the home and the entrance door, police say. A door mat was also ignited and there was a strong odor of gasoline present.

Fire Marshals determined the fire to be of a suspicious nature. Having conducted an investigation, a vehicle of interest has been developed.

The vehicle in question is the white pickup truck, police say.

Norfolk Fire Marshals are requesting the assistance of the public in locating this vehicle of interest.
