Hampton, Va. – Hampton police have identified a person wanted in connection with an investigation involving an individual who they say brandished a firearm at a law enforcement officer on February 18, 2015. They say this man is armed and dangerous.

At 1:18 p.m. on February 18, 2015, a Hampton police officer made contact with a “suspicious person” in the 800 block of Lasalle Avenue.  When the officer tried to identify him, the suspect provided false information to the officer. The officer then attempted to detain the suspect and the suspect then ran away from the scene, police say.

The officer immediately sought cover and the suspect ran away. He was last seen running in the 800 block of Lasalle Avenue.

26-year-old Larry Devon Scott of Hampton is wanted in connection with this incident, police say. Scott has warrants on file for one count of assault on a law enforcement officer, one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, one count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and one count of identity theft.

Scott should be considered armed and dangerous, police say. He is also wanted in connection with a previous homicide that occurred in Hampton on July 12, 2014. Scott has additional warrants on file for murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, shooting into an occupied dwelling,  shooting into an occupied vehicle, and malicious wounding.
