Virginia Beach, Va. –  The Virginia Beach SPCA opened a new satellite adoption and retail center in the Kempsville area on Friday.

The space occupies 1,600 square feet in the Providence Square Shopping Center.

It can house up to 10 dogs and 14 cats at any time.

The center will be open seven days a week with adoptable animals and pet-related products for sale to benefit the VBSPCA.

The center is the first of its kind in Virginia and is modeled after successful adoption and retail centers operated by nonprofit animal welfare organizations in California and Arizona.
