Brunswick County, Va. – A hit and run accident killed a man on State Route 611 late Friday night.
Around 10:39 p.m., a 1991 Honda Accord was traveling westbound Route 611 when the driver lost control and hit a 2012 Honda Civic, driven by 65-year-old Archie Lee Ruffin. The collision caused both cars to drive off the road and into a ditch.
Ruffin died at the scene. He was not wearing his seat belt, and alcohol was not a factor in this incident.
According to police, the driver of the 1991 Honda Accord fled the scene of the accident.
Virginia State Police reconstruction team and the Bureau of Criminal Investigations Evidence technicians responded to the scene.
