Marine Corps. F/A-18 Hornet crashes in Georgia

Statenville, Ga. – A Marine F/A-18 Hornet crashed Sunday near Statenville, Ga. Both aircrew ejected safely and were treated for minor injuries at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia, according to a release from the Marines.

The jet was part of the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing based at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, S.C.

Personnel from Moody Air Force Base, the closest military base to the crash site, responded to assist local authorities.

There are no reports of injuries to anyone on the ground.

The crash site has been cordoned off by military officials and the cause is currently under investigation.
