Norfolk, Va – World-renowned poet, author and actress Maya Angelou is to be honored by the U.S. Postal Service with her very own Forever Stamp.
Angelou, who passed away last May at the age of 86, was an amazing woman who broke barriers in the African-American community and has impacted the lives of many around the world.
Information about the stamp, such as a preview, date and location, and the first-day-of-issuance ceremony are to be announced at a later date.
“Maya Angelou inspired our nation through a life of advocacy and through her many contributions to the written and spoken word,” Postmaster Gen. Megan J. Brennan said in the press release. “Her wide-ranging achievements as a playwright, poet, memoirist, educator, and advocate for justice and equality enhanced our culture.”
