Newport News, Va. - Two people were killed in two separate shootings less than 24 hours apart, both on the same street in Newport News, police tell NewsChannel 3.

There is no indication the two killings are connected, police say.

But for the second time in two days, Newport News police blocked off part of Ivy Avenue, looking for any clues into a shooting.

In the second shooting -- police say a man in his 20s was killed.

Police first received the call of a shooting there just before 6 p.m. Monday night.

The man was found shot and died at the scene.

Just a few blocks away, 18-year-old Dewayne Parker lost his life.

Police say at about 11 p.m. Sunday night, Parker was shot several times. He died on the pavement.

NewsChannel 3 spoke with Parker's older brother, Shanta, who can only describe Parker's killer as 'cold-blooded'.

Investigators don't have much to go on. They're hoping someone will take action against crime.
