15-year-old charged in Sunday shooting in Newport News

UPDATE: A 15-year-old Newport News juvenile has been charged with one count each of maiming, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a juvenile in the case.

Newport News, Va. – A young man was shot in Newport News early Sunday afternoon.

Officials say around 2:34 p.m., they responded to a shooting on the 700 block of 31st Street. An 18-year-old Newport News man found suffering from a gunshot.

He was taken to the hospital with what is believed to be a non-life threatening injury.

With the help of witnesses, officers have a suspect in custody.
