29-year-old man charged with murder after Norfolk man is shot to death

Norfolk, Va. - One man is dead and another is behind bars after police say 39-year-old Johnny Williams was shot to death in Norfolk on Friday, March 20th.

Calls were made to emergency officials at 12:30 a.m. about the incident that occurred in the 1600 block of Vernon Drive.

When they arrived, that's when they discovered Williams who was suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was taken to Sentara Norfolk General where he later died.

His death was ruled a homicide and just shortly after 2 p.m., police caught up to 29-year-old Jermaine Rogers in Portsmouth who has been charged in Williams' death.

Police say they found Rogers inside a home in Portsmouth. The home was surrounded and Rogers surrendered to police.

He has been charged with second degree murder, attempted malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
