Six students, driver taken to hospital after school bus accident in Suffolk

Suffolk, Va. – A bus driver and six students have been taken to the hospital after they were involved in an accident in Suffolk on Monday.

Police say the accident happened at 4:20 p.m. in the 1700 block of Nansemond Parkway.

The accident occurred between the bus and a Toyota pickup truck. The school bus was coming from Nansemond Parkway Elementary School.

The road was closed for about 45 minutes after the accident while the students were being transported.

The bus driver and all six students were treated and released from Sentara Obici Hospital on Monday.

The driver of the pickup truck, 19-year-old Davin Kavone Bass, was issued a summons for Reckless Driving.

Officials have not released any other details.
