Suffolk, Va. – Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire and Rescue crews responded earlier this morning to a tractor trailer fire on the eastbound side of the Franklin Bypass, according to the Suffolk Police Department.

Emergency Communications received the call at 5:16 a.m. advising of the fire caused by a blown tire on the tractor trailer, which caught fire and subsequently ignited the load of wood pellets the trailer was hauling.

One eastbound lane and the Route 258 exit were briefly closed as Suffolk Fire and Rescue crews extinguished the flames, police say.

No injuries have been reported.

The roadway reopened at 6:19 a.m., according to officials.
