Norfolk, Va. - Survive and advance. Those two words describe the Old Dominion University men's basketball team after Monday night's win over Illinois State.

The Monarchs playing in the second round of the NIT held on to a 50 to 49 win over the Redbirds.

The win advances the Monarchs to a third-round match-up against the Murray State Racers Wednesday night at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. The winner of the game will move on to the Final Four of the NIT in New York City.

After the game, Coach Jeff Jones talked about his team's performance and what it means to be playing their next game at home.
