Hampton, Va. – Police are investigating after a shooting in Hampton, police tell NewsChannel 3. So far, two people have been hospitalized and one person has been charged.
On March 24, 2015, at 9:47 p.m., police received a complaint in reference to a shooting that occurred in the 600 block of Westwood Avenue.
Officers arrived and found a 22-year-old Hampton man suffering from a single gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
While checking the area, officers located the suspect, 26-year-old Stacy Marquiese Robinson Scott of Portsmouth, in the 1st block of Middleton Court suffering from multiple non-life threatening gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local area hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Police say Scott approached the victim, displayed a firearm, and began to shoot at the victim. The victim returned fire. Both the victim and Scott were struck by gunfire during the exchange.
The motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation, police say.
The following warrants have been obtained for Scott: one count of Maiming, one count of Attempted Robbery, two counts of Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, and one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Scott will be transported to the Hampton City Jail after he is released from the hospital.
