Kellam grad Trey Freeman hit a three pointer as time expired to give Old Dominion a 72-69 win over the Murray State Racers.
Old Dominion will face the Stanford Cardinal on Tuesday night in Madison Square Garden. Game time is set for 9 p.m.
The Monarchs were led by Virginia Beach native Trey Freeman who dropped in 22 points. Jonathan Arledge added 12. Old Dominion won their 24th straight game at home.
The last time ODU played in the NIT (2006), they would make it to New York City as a final four participant before falling to Michigan 66 - 43.
