(CNN) — We’ve all gotten them, those sappy $1.99 get-well cards with the cutesy cartoon cat or a pile of flowers on the cover. It’s the thought inside that counts, right?

It sure enough was for a Pennsylvania man who received a $7 million New York scratch-off lottery ticket in a get-well card from his father last month, CNN affiliate WCBS reported this week.

“I took my glasses off; I’m looking at it; I was pretty shocked to say the least,” Joseph Amorese said. “I had surgery; so I didn’t jump up and down, but in my mind I was jumping up and down.”

Amorese, 46, will collect a lump sump of $4.6 million after taxes, the station reported.

He and his wife, who have been married only 10 months, plan to use some of the money for a second honeymoon.

“My life, I don’t expect it to change a whole lot,” he said. “I’m still going to go to work every day. My wife’s gonna go to work, and we’re going to invest the money and enjoy life.”

Amorese is a project manager for a technology company. His wife, Jodi Amorese, is a social worker.

Amorese said his father often gives lottery tickets as gifts, but this is the first big winner, WCBS reported.

Jodi Amorese said she was “still dumbfounded by this whole thing.”

“Holy cow, holy cow. It really is an unbelievable experience,” she said.
