Hampton, Va. – Phenix PreK-8 School was evacuated on Monday morning, officials tell NewsChannel 3.

At 11:20 a.m., administrators notified the Hampton Police Division of a potential bomb threat at Phenix PreK-8 School located in the 1000 block of Big Bethel Road.

Police say a student found a message written in a bathroom which indicated an alleged threat to the school.

As a precautionary measure, the school was evacuated while the incident was investigated by Hampton Police Division and Hampton Fire and Rescue Division.

The incident was cleared at approximately 12:08 p.m. Students and staff were allowed to re-enter the building. The threat was unsubstantiated and appears to be a hoax, according to police.
