Elizabeth City, NC – An 18-year-old woman was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in an Elizabeth City apartment early Friday morning.
Elizabeth City Police responded to the apartment at 311 Locust Street in reference to a call reporting shots fired.
When officers arrived, they found 18-year-old Kiana Nicole White lying on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds.
Officers helped stabilize White until EMS arrived and she was transported to Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City where she was briefly treated before being flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
The shooting appears to be an isolated, targeted incident, police say. There does not seem to be any immediate threat to the community.
Police say they have not, however, established a motive.
The incident remains under investigation.
