Elizabeth City, NC – North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory will make his way to Elizabeth City as the 160th Elizabeth City State University commencement keynote speaker.
Some are calling this a major political move for the university that legislators proposed around this time last year.
ECSU is a constituent of the University of North Carolina. With their system president stepping down early next year and request made to the state for increased funding, gaining the Governor’s support may just be the right play for this ailing university.
Newly elected Chancellor Stacey Franklin Jones says she is excited and anticipates his arrival.
Commencement is scheduled for May 9 at 9am in Roebuck Stadium.
