Virginia Beach, Va. (WTKR) – The U.S. Navy’s Military Sealift Command’s rescue and salvage ship USNS Grasp deployed Monday.
The Grasp left from Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek- Fort Story for a deployment to the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility.
During the deployment, the USNS Grasp is expected to conduct dive and salvage operations, as well as train with partner nations.
The USNS Grasp is the second of four U.S. Navy Safeguard-class rescue and salvage ships.
The other three are the USNS Safeguard, USNS Salvor and USNS Grapple.
