Homeowner shoots trespasser in Pungoteague

Accomack County, Va. – A homeowner has been arrested after shooting at a person trespassing on his property in Pungoteague, according to the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday, April 20, 2015, the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office received a report regarding shots fired on Bobtown Road in Pungoteague, Virginia, according to Sheriff Todd Godwin.

Further investigation revealed that a man trespassing on private property was shot by the owner of the home. The shooting victim was transported by Melfa Volunteer Fire Department to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.

Both individuals were arrested and charged in connection with the incident, officials say.

Christopher W. Floyd, age 54 of Pungoteague, was arrested on April 20 on charges of Malicious Wounding, Use of Firearm in Commission of a Felony, and Reckless Handling of a Firearm. He is incarcerated in the Accomack County Jail with bond denied, officials say.

Louis E. Lilliston, age 41 of Greenbush, was charged with Trespassing on April 20 and was released on a summons at the officer’s discretion, according to Karen C. Barrett of the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office.
