Hampton man wanted in connection with shooting, robbery

Hampton, Va. – Hampton police are searching for a man wanted in connection with a shooting and robbery, police tell NewsChannel 3.

The Hampton Police Division is seeking the public’s assistance in locating 24-year-old Phillip Robert Brooks.

It happened on May 3, 2015. At 2:37 a.m., Hampton Police responded to the Sentara Careplex in reference to a shooting victim that had walked into the emergency room for treatment.

The investigation has revealed that the victim, a 34-year-old Hampton man, was in the 100 block of Doolittle Road when he was approached by a known individual who produced a handgun and demanded the victim’s property. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money and a cell phone from the victim and then shot the victim one time, police say. The suspect then ran away from the area. The victim then drove himself to the Sentara Careplex for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Phillip Robert Brooks, a 24-year-old Hampton man with a last known address in the 200 block of Salt Pond Road, is wanted in connection with this incident.

He currently has warrants on file for one count of Maiming, one count of Robbery, one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and two counts of Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, police say.
