NFL dreams come true for local players

Posted

Hampton Roads, Va. - The 2015 NFL draft wrapped up this weekend and some local hopefuls now know they have a chance to play in the league.

Eli Harold, the defensive end out of UVA, was selected in the third round with the 79th pick by the San Francisco 49ers.

Tre Mcbride also heard his name called. The William and Mary wide receiver was snagged in the seventh round with the 255th pick to the Tennessee Titans.

Lynden Trail may not have heard his name during the draft, but he will be moving on to the next level. The Norfolk State linebacker was taken in free agency with the Houston Texans. He's not officially on the roster, but he is invited to mini-camp which begins this week.

Former ODU quarterback Taylor Heinicke will also be heading to mini camp with the Minnesota Vikings. Less than an hour after the draft concluded, Heinicke had signed a $1.3 million dollar three year deal with the Vikings.
